Today is Veteran's Day, and we honor all of those who have served in our armed forces. We appreciate your service to us and to our country. Last Thursday, we hosted Recalibrate—our first annual mastermind event for executives and senior leaders. It was an amazing day. I originally designed it to be a space to pause, reflect, and realign before heading into 2026. It was a packed, energizing day with diverse insights and meaningful conversations. One of the attendees said afterward, "Yesterday was awesome! Thank you and each presenter!" Highlights from Major TopicsRonnie Murray opened with a big-picture look at economic trends and workforce shifts we’ll need to navigate in the coming year. It was a lot of factors to consider. Our world is more inter-connected than ever, and it creates a complex environment for us to navigate. Then I zoomed in on the approaching AI wave in my talk—about how it’s not just changing workflows, but redefining leadership. I shared that while AI feels like a tech disruption, it’s ultimately a test of leadership. We looked at Accenture’s layoff of 11,000 employees not as a data point, but as a leadership signal. (If you haven't read about it, you need to. Interesting stuff.) In the afternoon, Mike, my business partner, honed in on the number one challenge we’ve heard from leaders this year: accountability. It’s missing in too many organizations. To help everyone take steps toward better accountability, he gave us a 6-part conversation framework designed to drive clarity and alignment across teams. Later in the afternoon, Alicia Brown led an important session on mental health and executive wellness. Everyone was talking about it afterward. Her message? You can’t lead others when you're empty and stressed out. Your team needs a healthy, balanced version of you. The Conversations In BetweenThroughout the day, leaders connected deeply—over meals, hallway conversations, and walks on the stunning grounds of Graylyn Estate. It was a reminder that growth isn’t just about input, but also about reflection and relationship. Missed it this year? We’re already planning Recalibrate 2026 for next November. Delegating AI is not the same as supporting it. That one distinction is going to separate the companies that get this right from the ones that spend two years and a lot of money learning very little. What an innovation role taught me Years ago I ran the innovation initiative for a division of a large company. The job was to build a culture where people understood what it meant to think creatively and bring genuinely new products to market. Here I'm leading an innovation session for a big box...
Most people are still treating AI like a software application or platform. That might be holding you back. Last week, we looked at how differently people accept change. This email is about what to do once they’re willing to change. I had a conversation this month with someone working hard to get more out of AI for himself and for his business. He's a smart guy, and he’s making progress quickly. But he was approaching these tools the way we all learned to approach software. You learn what it...
A handful of people on your team have already tried AI twelve different ways in 5 different tools. And that’s just this month. Others have not opened it once, and they won’t unless you ask them to. Both reactions are normal. Last week we talked about giving your team a story about AI. This one is about why the same story lands so differently depending on who’s hearing it. Your team hears the future differently Our People Development practice is built on the 5 Voices for Teams methodology, and...
